I could go on and on with more examples. There are so many bootstrapped startups that wound up doing incredibly well, but we seldom hear about them because the press loves overnight success stories and big money. As you can see, self-funding can move much more slowly, but it can be just as rewarding in the end.

The one thing all these companies have in common is that they addressed real problems, often ones that they encountered themselves. That’s why they were able to survive the hard times. They had customers ready to pay for what they were offering. When in doubt, making something truly valuable is always the answer. The money will come if you address a pressing need. You just have to be prepared to put in the sweat, blood, tears, and time to get it off the ground.
